Who we are and what we're doing:
We are five UNC students who will be driving across the country this summer from the dates of May 6th to May 25th stopping at and exploring various national parks along the way. Over the course of our trip, we will be visiting the following places (and possibly more!):
• Rocky Mountain National Park
• Arches National Park
• Canyonlands National Park
• Zion National Park
• Mt. Whitney Trail (Inyo National Forest)
• Kings Canyon/Sequoia National Park
• Yosemite National Park
• San Francisco, CA
• Redwoods National Park
• Bend, OR
• Glacier National Park
• Yellowstone National Park
• Grand Teton National Park
In addition to enjoying the natural beauty that all of these beautiful places have to offer we will also be conducting a fundraising campaign throughout the trip to help establish more accessible trail systems throughout national parks around the country. Everyone, no matter the circumstances, should never have to miss out on seeing and enjoying the sites that have been preserved so beautifully by conservation organizations around the world because of the lack of adequate accessibility on trails. We hope that through our efforts we will be able to create a much more accessible and open trail system that invites even more people to go out and explore on their own.
If any of you guys would like to help this cause feel free to contact us through this site! Any donations are welcome but if you choose to donate above $30 we will mail you an awesome shirt with the name of our trip, “Operation Odyssey” and your own name on the back by the end of the summer! In addition, any and all donations will go directly to the cause.
We will be updating this blog periodically throughout the trip depending on our access to internet so many of the posts might come all at once.
